Blood Wine Page 2

“Hey, what’s wrong? I was enjoying listening to you go on,” she said.

“I am sorry for that, I didn’t mean to ramble about my tragic life before Rosewater,” he responded.

“Hey, it is okay, we all have a past. I shot my stepdad and fled from the law and here I am with you in a better town and a better life,” she told him.

“You shot your stepdad,” he said.

“Yes, but to be fair he deserved it after he beat my mother and then tried to drown her in the sink with the dishwater,” she replied.

“Oh, okay, should I be worried about this date then?” he asked in a slightly scared tone.

“No, I promise, let’s get out of here and have a better time, what do you say?” she asked.

“Sure as long as you don’t shoot me,” he told her.

She chuckled a bit in response and nodded with agreement, so they finished up and headed to her car where they climbed in and pulled away from the dinner. They were heading down the street toward the old rundown Rose Garden Hotel. She drove down the driveway toward the back where there would be more privacy. She parked and turned off the car before turning to Alex and pulling him into a deep passionate kiss. He returned the passion as they kissed like hormone driven teenagers.

Hours later Alex came strolling into the facility and headed straight for the showers to wash up before bed. While he was drying off he heard a noise and when he turned around he found Jack standing there with a flashlight in hand staring at him.

“Hey Jack everything alright?” he asked as he finished drying himself.

“Yeah, I am just making sure that everything is okay. I heard the shower and came in to make sure it wasn’t left on by mistake,” he told him.

“Okay, well have a goodnight and I will see you tomorrow,” he responded as he began getting dressed.

Jack left the housing area and Alex wandered out of the shower area and headed straight to bed where he drifted off to sleep. As the night wore on he came to as Benny was shuffling into the housing area and crashed on his bed from exhaustion.

Alex rubbed his eyes and glanced at the clock. He jumped up, quickly got dressed and then rushed out the door late for his shift. Alex arrived in the furnace loading room, but there wasn’t much to do. Most of the barrels were gone, so he closed it up and headed through the door to another area that was marked restricted. Later on Benny woke up and it was dark. He sat on the edge of his bed quietly not to wake any of the others, but a noise startled him. He grabbed his flashlight and headed out into the rest of the facility. He glanced around as he shined the light and still didn’t see anything. He heard it again and this time it was coming from the back, so he crept toward the back of the facility and then he heard it again, coming from the restricted area. He slowly opened the door so he wouldn’t be noticed and saw someone with their face in a barrel of wine. The person raised his face from the barrel as he heard him grab the door and try to close it. Benny jumped in shock as it was Pablo and his half rotting corpse was alive, and from his face the dark red wine dripped from his face. Benny froze in fear as Pablo’s face started to heal. The rot disappeared as the muscle and flesh grew back to normal. His eyes were a dark red color almost like blood and he had fangs in his mouth.

“Awe Benny, I missed you,” he said, wiping the red colored liquid from his mouth.

  “Yeah, hell no,” he responded.

Benny turned to run away and as he did, he smacked into Alex. He grabbed him and tried to flee, but Alex just stood there.

“Alex come on man, we have to get the hell out of here,” he blurted out.

Alex stepped into the light and when Benny saw his face he freaked and took off running as Alex had the same blood red eyes and fangs in his mouth as well. He managed to make it to the front doors and as he swung them open Jack was standing right in his way. Jack punched him square in the face knocking him out and then picked up his body and carried it to the restricted area.

Two days have passed and Benny awoke strapped to a bed in a room with tubes in his arms draining the blood from his body. Sitting across from him was Alex staring at him intrigued with wonder at how he would be as a vampire.

“That was very rude of you to run away like that Benny, after all aren’t we friends?” he said.

“Wow, you’re a fucking vampire, why would I want to be friend’s with you,” he blurted out in an aggressive tone.

“Because I could spare you and make you one of us, or I could drain you completely and process your blood into the most delicious wine,” he told him with an annoyed tone.

Benny glared at Alex, who turned and walked to the door. He glanced back, then walked out of the room. A short while later Jack entered the room, grabbed the straps and began to take them off. Benny stared at him in confusion since he is the reason Alex got a hold of him anyways.

“Don’t look at me like that, I know what I have—-,” he said as he whipped around and found Alex standing right behind him.

“No, please finish what you were saying, I don’t want to interrupt,” he said as he snatched Jack by the throat.

Jack struggled to breathe and against his grip as he spoke, “I am finished helping you monster.”

Angry with his response Alex threw him through the observation window into the next room. Jack groaned in extreme pain as he was impaled with shards of the glass. He sat up and Alex picked him up again, except this time Alex grabbed a chuck of the glass buried in his side and started grinding it around. Jack screamed out in pain as Benny freed the last strap. He hopped off the table and nearly fell. He felt weird and he managed to stubble to the open doorway. He realized it would be difficult because he was drugged. He glanced back for a brief moment and then fled into the hallway and stumbled through it as he made his way toward the doors to the store room area in the restricted section. Jack could be heard screaming in pain as he made his way to another room to hide which was not far from the main doors. He opened the door and fell into it. He managed to get the door shut as Alex killed Jack. He heard a noise and turned to find Vivian hanging from the ceiling on hooks bleeding out into a barrel. He rushed out of the room as Alex came out of the other. He stumbled through the doors to the storage area as Alex stalked down the hall toward him. He continued to flee from the monster he thought was his friend and exited the restricted area as he was starting to feel a bit better. Benny made his way through the building to the other side of the back where the furnace room was located and entered the room. Pablo grabbed him and tried to bite him, he struggled to fight him off. Pablo tossed Benny into a few barrels and as they broke corpses fell out. He grabbed him again and again and tossed him into more corpse filled barrels. Benny was picked up and he swung a pry bar into Pablo’s face, tearing a chunk of it off. He screamed in pain as he stepped backward and Benny stabbed it through his chest and shoved him into the furnace room. Benny stared at Pablo who pulled the pry bar out and he stopped moving forward as he noticed Benny’s hand hovering over the start button.

“Come Benny, can’t we talk about this?” he pleaded.

“Go to hell,” he blurted out as he hit the button forcing the doors to slam shut.

“No,” he screamed as he banged on the doors.

Benny stepped away as more Pablo screamed and howled in pain as he was being burnt alive. The screams faded in the distance as Benny ran out of the room and made his way toward the front door. Alex on the other hand, had something else planned. He dropped from the scaffolding and snatched Benny by the arm. He swung around and Alex glared at him with an evil look.

“I offered you a place with me at my side, oh well,” he said.

Benny struggled to get away from his grip, he punched Alex in the face as he tried to bite him. Alex stepped back from the act, letting Benny go. Benny ran, but he couldn’t get out the door because it had been chained. Alex laughed as Benny made his way to the office and locked the door and pushed the desk against it. Benny grabbed the phone and found it was dead. He slammed it down, he searched the desk as he heard Alex getting closer. He found a letter opener to defend himself. Alex kicked the door and shattered it off the hinges and sent the debris of the desk flying backward into Benny and shattered the window behind him. Alex grabbed him, lifted him up and threw him out the window. Benny yelped in pain as his leg was stuck with a large chunk of glass. Alex jumped out the window as the police driving by stopped and approached Benny who was struggling to get to his feet.

“Hey son, are you okay? What happened here?” an officer asked.

“Please help me get out of here, I was attacked,” he replied as the officer helped him to his car.

Benny was placed in the back seat and the officer jumped into the car and sped off heading toward the hospital to get him help. Benny sighed in relief that he was finally safe from Alex. The officer sped through town and about halfway to the hospital Alex landed on the hood of the car, smashed his hand through the windshield and swerved the car into the traffic pole barely missing a few people walking on the sidewalk. Alex hopped off the car as the officer was dazed. He punched through the glass on the door and ripped the officer out of the driver’s seat. He opened the back and shoved him into the seat next to Benny, climbed into the car and drove off back toward the winery.

Benny had awakened to find himself in a large dog kennel cage. And the officer was in the next one. Alex strolled in and glanced with a smile as he saw Benny awake.

“You’re awake, good, well I have a gift for you,” he told him.

Benny watched as he grabbed a bottle of wine, opened it and placed a glass by his cage.

“Come on Benny, have a drink with me,” he said.

Benny eyed the drink suspiciously and
refused to pick it up or even to respond to Alex.

“Okay then,” he growled with an angry demeanor.

Alex stepped up to the officer’s cage and opened it. He glanced at him, snatched him up and made his fingernails into sharp claws, then made a small deep cut on the officer’s jaw.

Alex came back a short while later and the blood wine had been spilled on the floor. As he approached the cage and stepped into it, Benny who refused to give up stabbed him in the throat with the broken glass. He shoved Alex over and grabbed the keys and hurried to free the officer, and they both ran before Alex could do anything. They made it back to the main part of the factory and as Alex came out into the main section, he was pulling the glass from his neck squirting blood all over as he did. Benny grabbed the officer and ran for the scaffolding so they could try and escape through the upper side exit. As they reached the upper level, Benny collapsed and the officer tried to help as Alex grew closer.

  (flashback)

Benny found himself having visions, he saw Alex arriving into town with a trucker and as he thanked him, he grabbed the trucker up and tore into his throat ripping it out as he fed on him. He saw visions of dozens of people from town over the six months being kidnapped, drained of their blood, and mixed in with the wine. He also saw that the winery was deserted and that Alex built the place back up and made it functional again. Jack was a pawn to have a permanent place to build his nest of vampires.

Benny’s eyes darted open as Alex stood before them. The officer noticed his eyes and Benny grabbed him by the back of his neck and sank his teeth into his neck and tore into it as blood covered Benny and the officer as his life left his body. Alex clapped at the sight as Benny got to his feet.

“Well done, I am impressed,” he told him.

“What have you done to me?” he blurted out.

“Oh please Benny, I know the real you, your blood tells a story, and you are more of a monster than I am. I have seen what you did to your parents, how did it feel when your dad found out you liked boys, I know he beat you over and over until you were a broken, bruised and bloody mess who’s mother allowed it to happen. Or how about how you strangled your ex-girlfriend when she found out you screwed her brother. Lets not forget though what happened to daddy, as you drugged him and your mother. I mean you placed his belt around her throat for a semi quick death. But you dragged him into his shop and tied him up, and then took his chainsaw and sawed him into dog size treats, before you fed his body to the dog. That is why you really left town after all, so how am I the monster?” he said to him.

“Shut up,” he yelled in a fit of anger.

Benny stood there smacking his head and then glanced up at Alex. Who was caught off guard, he rushed Alex and slammed him over the rail and as they both fell, they slammed into the concrete floor below. Alex picked himself up off the floor and Benny grabbed him and threw him into the side of a giant mixing barrel, denting it. Alex got to his knees and Benny stepped up and forced his finger nail claws to appear. He grabbed Alex by the throat and raised him off the ground. He plunged his nails into his stomach and started to jerk his hand up, ripping open his chest spilling blood everywhere.

“Don’t forget who made you,” he barely said as he gargled in blood.

“And don’t forget who killed you,” Benny replied.

Benny dropped Alex and then placed his foot to his throat, grabbed his arms and pulled as he ripped Alex’s head from his body.

Five years have passed since that night in the Red Rose Winery and business is still stronger than ever. A van pulled up to the winery and the passengers disembarked. They wandered up to the building and a young man came out and greeted them.

“Hello, I am Benny Kelvin, owner of this winery. Let’s get you started with some of our famous red rose wine,” he said as he smiled wickedly.

The group and Benny turned and walked into the building, the doors shut and an evil laugh could be heard as screams rang out from the latest victims of the Red Rose Winery.
